1. TRAVELING

You travel in a dream. It is night.
You wake at dawn in the new city.
It is more stylish than yours and
there is lively music, everything free.

New friends, finding you exotic,
throw their arms around you,
guide you through the crowds,
introduce you to your new lover

who has an innocence you never expected.
They offer you a job, twice the money,
half the hours. You learn the language,

send back gold to the relatives,
make fun of the old country.
You have perfect children. They are citizens
and never ask where you come from.
